…technology, human needs and environmental concerns must be considered an integral part of Architecture.

| Environmental strategy concept for Lisbon Arts Center |

My Architecture does not come from a personal architectural style, but from a deeply rooted design philosophy that is independent of stylistic concerns. True architecture synthesizes art and science to create form and space that meets the requirements of the program. Throughout history architectural movements have arisen in response to developing cultural, artistic and technological advances. Much as the Modern Architecture movement was in response to changes created by the industrial revolution such as new building materials and technologies as well as the social upheavals spurred by industrialization, a new architecture is required today to respond to the economic and environmental consequences of the use of non-renewable carbon based fuels. |

We are now at a crossroads for architecture. It is time to evolve to the next level where form and space are derived from a perspective of sustainability. The climate of the building location will have a stronger influence on the building design than a preconceived aesthetic that can be inserted into any location regardless of the local environment. Using natural systems as inspiration and new technologies as tools a new architecture will be born that expresses the environmental strategies in the form and spaces of the building. |

My work aims to achieve this new architecture while providing my clients with an inspirational building that meets their needs and aesthetic preferences and at the same time expressing the solutions of sustainability. By bringing complex structural, functional and environmental elements together into a rational whole, complex parameters can be resolved into pure, simple and elegant design solutions, thus creating Environmental Architecture.
